A true gift for those in need

OPERATION Christmas Child is ramping up with just over two months to go until gifts are delivered to children in need.

The dedicated group of volunteers will hold a garage sale this Saturday to help raise more funds to give presents to as many children as possible.

Coordinator Robyn Hicks said they hoped to deliver 700 presents to children in Vietnam, Cambodia, the Philippines, Samoan Islands and Fiji.

“It’s the first time we’ve had a garage sale...the cost of everything is going up and this might be a way to raise funds for transport,” she said.

Mrs Hicks said a range of items were included in the gift boxes for the children including school needs, clothes, toys and personal items.

“We will be accepting donations of toys and stationary as well as financial donations on the day,” she said.

Only new items can be accepted and they must be suitable for a child aged two to 14 years old.

Head down to grab yourself a bargain from 8am to 2pm this Saturday at 230 Shiralee Road.
