And they did it the hard way. After progressing through section three undefeated and then knocking off the Blayney duo of Aurisch and Eason in the quarter-finals, the Hamiltons accounted for three-time champions Gerard Beath and Bernie Diduszko in the classic semi-final.
Then faced with the in-form Country Club team of Lee Stinson and Steve Carr, Hamilton and Hamilton shot out of the blocks fast, earning a 22-5 lead after 14 ends. It was an unassailable lead.
The father-son pairing ending up taking the win 27-14 late on Thursday, taking home the $4000 first prize out of the rich, $14,000 prize money pool.
Now a two-time winner, Jared was the lead bowler in the dominant pair skippered by the then world number two ranked Jeremy Henry in 2014 and said the 2016 victory tasted a little bit sweeter.
“I won it two years ago but I only played lead and that was for the world number two,” Jared said.
“This one means a lot more to me winning it as a skip and with dad. It means a lot more. We always thought we were a big show.”
Jared, 27, and Warren, 54, competed in this week’s Golden Eagle for the first time as a pairing, with the former adding he was able to “finally drag dad up here”.
He said after an earlier scare in round one - the Hamiltons defeated Robinson and French by just one shot - the rest of the tournament followed virtually the same pattern - get out to an early lead.
“(The final) was always going to be a cracker too, but we kind of just snuck off to a lead and hung on to it. There was a bit of luck in it but we played pretty well. I was happy with our performance,” he said.
