The specialist truck body builder started with Todd Raffen as a sole trader 13 years ago and now employs 31 people.
Directors Mr Raffen and his wife Jenny said they were blown away after taking the top gong, along with awards for Excellence in Manufacturing and Industrial Services and Excellence in Business with more than 20 employees.
“We were happy to be finalists, it’s surreal,” Mrs Raffen said.
“We just try hard and improve on everything we do and grow more and more.”
She said the company moved to a larger facility at Narrambla last month.
“We took a plunge because we thought if we don’t do it, we won’t ever do it and the gamble’s paid off,” she said.
The couple said their success would not have been possible without their staff and customers.
“There’s so much young talent in the apprentices coming through,” Mrs Raffen said.
“And I have a wife that puts up with me,” Mr Raffen joked.
Meanwhile, Pip Brett was recognised as the 2015 Young Entrepreneur for her work with one of her two businesses, Jumbled, and she said while she was not personally good with technology, it had proven crucial.
“With the online side, you have such a big audience so I could buy unique things because I figured someone in Australia will want that, so I could buy a little more crazily,” she said.
Bobbies was recognised for Excellence in Small Business and owner Melissa Gregory was personally awarded the Business Leader honours.
“Over the last 12 months to two years we’ve really been focusing on strategies to raise the image of our business and give customers what they want to make the in-store experience valuable so that they will continue to shop with us rather than our online competitors,” she said.
“We’ve been looking at our brand mix and checking our reports all the time to work out is this brand working and are we getting the most out of it?”
The full list of award winners will be recognised in Friday’s Central Western Daily.
