Crash victim still critical

A 29-year-old man remains in a critical condition in Orange hospital after he rolled his Landrover Discovery V8 in a Macquarie Woods picnic ground on Monday afternoon.

The man was thrown from his vehicle which then rolled on him, pinning him under the vehicle until people in the public camping ground ran to his aid and lifted the vehicle off him.

He was stabilised before being driven to Orange hospital for specialist treatment for neck and other injuries.

An Orange Highway Patrol officer drove the ambulance to Orange hospital as two paramedics worked frantically on the man to treat his injuries.

The Orange-based NSW Ambulance helicopter was unable to fly to the site as it had already been deployed to another part of the region to fly a seriously ill patient back to Orange hospital.

Forensic police were called to the campsite area following the crash at 4.30pm on Monday.

A 21-year-old man and a 12-year-old boy were also taken by ambulance to Orange hospital to be treated for minor injuries.

The man and his two passengers and the other seriously ill patient flown in by helicopter all arrived at the emergency department within minutes of each other.

Police are continuing investigations in to the crash which occurred off Cashens Lane, about 30 kilometres west of Bathurst
