About 150 students took to the water at Orange Aquatic Centre for the carnival where they competed in freestyle, breaststroke, backstroke and butterfly events are well as a 100 metre all age champion race and medleys.
Bowen Public School teacher Mary Norman said there were activities for both competitve swimmers and those with less confidence and the races were divided into juniors, under 11 and seniors, which was for 12 and 13 year olds.
"We were really, really happy with it, we felt the children and staff had a great day and the predicted rain held off and we got through all our events," Mrs Norman said.
The swimming carnival was held for children aged eight to 13.
