Funding of $29.4 million is available in individual grants to fund local crime prevention projects to boost safety and deter crime through the installation of security measures such as CCTV and better lighting.
This is an investment in security infrastructure at local crime hotspots.
It aims to reduce fear of crime and contribute to greater community safety and resilience in Calare.
I encourage potential applicants to contact my office to discuss their project’s eligibility and to receive all submission details.
To apply, please visit: https://www.ag.gov.au/CrimeAndCorruption/CrimePrevention/Pages/ProceedsofCrimeAct.aspx.
Applications close at 2pm on February 17.
Farmers encouraged to have their say
PRODUCERS in Calare are being encouraged to have their say on market power in the agriculture sector, in particular, the recommendation by the Harper Review Panel to amend Section 46 of the Competition and Consumer Act.
Anti- competitive behaviour and misuse of market power has been identified as a key problem by the majority of agricultural stakeholders as part of the Harper Review into Competition Policy.
This government is committed to rectifying supply chain issues and fostering a competitive and transparent business sector so that all participants in the market place are treated fairly.
Farmers who have experienced anti-competitive behaviour are being asked to share their ideas.
Submissions close on February 12.

Unlocking regional opportunities
REGIONAL communities across Australia will be asked to contribute to a revamped regional development policy to be crafted by the Coalition Government this year.
This policy will set out a long-term vision for regional Australia and ensure plans for Calare’s future are informed by the community.
Assistant Minister Michael McCormack will travel to our electorate and meet with local community leaders, regional businesses, academic institutions and regional Australians to identify local opportunities.
These discussions will put regional communities firmly in the driver’s seat and allow for the federal government to make more informed decisions to better meet each community’s needs.
The Australian Government has worked hard to lay the foundations for the future development of Australia’s regions, and that ongoing dialogue and partnerships with regional communities are crucial as the Australian economy responds to change.
