The fact that 2015 was the world’s hottest year since records began, and that climate change, together with a strong El Nino effect caused this, should have alarm bells ringing louder than ever.
And yet, here in Australia, we continue to open up new coal mines and export huge amounts of coal.
News reports also indicate that carbon dioxide emissions continue to rise, instead of falling.
It’s worth remembering that even if, by some miracle, all global greenhouse gases stopped being emitted into the atmosphere, global warming/climate change would continue for over 100 years. That’s how long greenhouse gases remain in the atmosphere.
P.S. In my opinion, the 2015 Paris pact to limit global temperature increases to less than 2 degrees is hardly worth the paper it’s written on.
