OLYMPIAN Lisa Corrigan was in Orange yesterday to help with the early organisation of the 2013 Orange Colour City Running Festival, but the Canowindra girl won’t be on her own when she makes the trip west for the main event in February next year.

The event’s ambassador, Corrigan said the 2013 running festival - which will include a marathon for the first time in its history - will boast an international flavour, with runners from as far as France and Japan tipped to enter the Orange run.
It’s a massive coup for the organisers of the festival.
“We’ve been promoting the event hard this year,” Corrigan said.
“It’s for people with varying abilities but we’re hoping to get some international guys over.”
It’ll make the first Orange marathon even more interesting.
Corrigan, though, said she wouldn’t be running the 42.2 kilometre main event, instead opting to run the 10km event if she isn’t injured.
A competitor at the Melbourne Commonwealth Games, the World Championships at Osaka, Japan, and the Beijing Olympic Games, Corrigan said the marathon track would be ideal for distance runners.
“They’ve got up on their website at the moment an aerial view that takes you over the course. It’s pretty challenging with a few little hills but other than that it’s Orange so it’s mainly flat. That’s what you want in a marathon,” the 1500m specialist said.
Corrigan is a first time ambassador of the event.
“I just think it’s a great event. I’m from the Central West too being a Canowindra girl,” she said. “It’s great to be involved.”
Corrigan said organisers of the event were hoping to attract in excess of 1000 people for the 2013 event, and she was determined to help them get there.
“Last year it was about 780, so we’re hoping to top that,” she said.
“I’ll be working with Athletics NSW as well trying to get a few Sydney guys up for the run.”
