Molong resident Kim Bell said his 23-year-old daughter was in the hallway when she saw the snake cross into the bathroom.
“We live out on a farm so we see them around, we’ve had one in the laundry. I told her to barricade it in there so it couldn’t get out,” he said.
“By the time I got home and called Jake [Hansen, from Orange Snake Service], he was there in 15 minutes.”
Mr Hansen was also called to North Orange Shopping Centre to remove a red-bellied black snake from the former Mexican eatery after shoppers spotted it on the footpath and it retreated inside.
However, Mr Hansen said the number of snake sightings had been steady.
“Every summer seems to be the summer of the snake, but the population is stable,” he said.
“The town is expanding with more housing on the fringes, and the habitat destruction is putting people in closer with where they live.”
