That’s the message CYMS Moroneys skipper Adam Smith sent to Cowra leading into their Royal Hotel Cup pool B clash at Wade Park on Wednesday night.

Despite being thumped by Orange City in their opening game of the Twenty20 tournament just over two weeks ago, Smith said his side would enter Wednesday night’s clash with confidence, thanks to the vital experience it  gained from that one game.

He said the young Moroneys side has learned from its opening round defeat, so much so, it is more than a chance to provide Cowra with its second straight upset defeat, after the Lachlan Valley-based representative side was thrashed by Centrals recently.

“I think we’ll certainly give Cowra a run for their money,” Smith fired.

“A lot of my guys had never even played a game under lights before our first game, and admittedly we didn’t play well.

“We let Orange City dictate terms, so we’ll use that as a learning experience, which I think will put us in good stead for this game.”

Giving Moroneys extra motivation, Smith said, is knowing a win tonight would virtually rule Cowra out of the 2015-16 play-offs.

“Potentially knocking Cowra out is a massive incentive considering how good they are, and how strong they were last year in making last year’s grand final,” Smith said.

With Cowra’s powerful batting line-up its main threat, particularly with express quick Jacob McNaught set to miss the match due to representative commitments, Smith said his side will need to focus on a better bowling performance than its first outing.

“We didn’t bowl well against Orange City, not at all,” Smith said.

“We bowled two sides of the wicket, and didn’t bowl to our fields. That’s something we need to change against a side like Cowra.

“Honestly, I think it will come down to which side wants it more, and I know my boys definitely want to get that first win of the season.

“Who better to get it against than Cowra.”

The clash kicks off at 6.30pm.
