A collaboration of four not-for-profit digital and design organisations, dLux MediaArts, IDX, codeclub and Three Farm have joined forces to work with students to teach them about digital media.
Over 35 students in year nine and 10 took part in workshops involving engineering and design to learn what is possible with technology.
Amanda Turnbull, d-Lux MediaArts d-Lab program manager said they are aiming to encourage interest in technology among students.
"We are using creativity and design thinking to show what's possible and foster an interest in technology," she said.
"We want to inspire creativity and want students to re-engage with education."
IDX, indigenous digital excellence, provides platforms for indigenous people to learn about digital technology, while codeclub specialise in computer programming or “coding” and teach students online responsibility, problem solving and digital thinking.
Three Farm runs education programs in sustainable design.
Year nine Canobolas High student Kane Mitchell said he enjoys learning about technology progression.
"I'm gaining knowledge about digital media programs, 3D printers and robotics," he said.
"It's a great program and a great start to boost my confidence in understanding use of programs."
Canobolas High community engagement officer, Vince Lovecchio, said the program is a partnership to build an ongoing relationship with the community and aid students in learning about technology.
"The program gives kids an opportunity to engage in and explore new technologies for future career paths," he said.
The organisations arrived in Orange as part of a five day tour around the Central West to boost engagement, interest and technology skills in the region.
Together they hope to establish a mobile makers’ place, a mobile van facility that travels around regional areas providing communities access to digital media and technologies.
