The principal used his speech to emphasise to parents and students, that at times, “we need to go from our head to our hands”.
With the main emphasis today on a university education, it’s important, and very timely, to remember the trade courses offered at TAFE. Even at primary school level, as a principal, I tried to remind students and parents of what TAFE has to offer.
P.S. There were times during my long career in many schools when I wished I had joined my brothers in a trade at Newcastle.
I suspect that most people during their working lives have similar thoughts after a “trying” day - or is it just me?
