Straight from the horse's mouth for Towac

WHEN jockey Greg Ryan saddles up on Heretothemoon at today’s Racing Orange meeting, they will be a combination to watch.

The Sylvia Szabo-trained mare and Ryan will be out to bring home a cheque from the Racing Orange Membership On Sale F&M Benchmark 50 Handicap (1000m).

Szabo said Heretothemoon and Ryan had proven a successful partnership.

“Every time Greg has ridden her he’s brought home a cheque,” Szabo said.

“He hasn’t had a win on her yet.”

Ryan and the six-year-old combined three weeks ago in Parkes where they were third over 1100 metres

They also finished fourth at Bathurst over 1100m and 1200m in June.

“He rides her well. He can manage to get her out well,” Szabo said of Ryan.

“She’s drawn a good barrier for tomorrow (two). She’s got the early speed. She’d be up there in the first half of the field.”

Heretothemoon is one of three Orange starters in the benchmark 50 today.

Peter Stanley has Desert Melody in the  race and Lee Van Den Bos will have Rapido Cavallo.

Szabo said she was looking forward to the first race meeting in Orange for the season.

She will only have the mare running today but the trainer will go to Grenfell tomorrow for Kardinia Lady to race in the Grenfell Pharmacy Class 2 Handicap (1200m).

Other Orange trainers who will have starters in today’s meeting  are Brian Buckley, Alison Smith and Don Oakley.

The gates will open today at 12pm and the first race jumps at 1.08pm.
