Following construction of bypass to the letter

Like member for Orange Andrew Gee I have been trying to get an answer from council on why there have been no siltation or erosion controls in place while the bypass has been constructed, which covers the same area concerning the local member.

After six months, a site meeting and three letters I have had two replies, first from the site manager, saying we are looking into it and we will fix it when the road is complete; the second from Mr Redmond, saying that the work is being carried out to the environmental statement, and stop writing letters to council as you are wasting staff's time in replying to them. Great public relations telling the local member he is causing a vendetta and me, only a ratepayer, to stop writing letters to council.

I also raised with council at the same time the subdivision that was been created adjacent to the area Mr Gee was writing about, why there were no environmental controls in place when they were trucking hundreds of metres of soil in and out of the site through the adjacent housing estate. I have had no answer to that question.

As council is the supervising authority on environmental controls on local subdivisions they are not setting a very good example.
