Around 450 artworks from a dozen schools will be on display in this regular exhibition.
Orange City Council services policy committee chair councillor Ron Gander said it was terrific to see the works of Orange students on display at the gallery.
“Artworks have been selected from 12 schools in the region, including those by infants, primary and secondary students from public and private schools,” Cr Gander said.
“The exhibition shows the great artistic talent in our schools and the significant contribution teachers make to fostering this across art forms.”
The gallery initiated this popular series of exhibitions in 1990 and this is the 10th time it’s been on the gallery calendar. This year it has been timed to coincide with the Orange Youth Arts Festival, with the launch forming part of the festival’s Aesthetica event.
Gallery director Lisa Loader believes the exhibition is possibly the largest to date with around 450 works on show.
“Orange Regional Gallery is thrilled to once again be hosting the Festival of Student Art, and for it to be a key inclusion in this year’s Orange Youth Arts Festival,” she said.
