THE adage that it takes a village to raise a child has been the inspiration behind the East Orange Village Markets for the past five years and organisers hope this year’s event will be bigger and better than ever.

More than 200 stallholders will be selling their wares, which East Orange Public School P&C president Erin Child said offer the most diverse range of products.
Food vendors, jumping castles, face painting, plants, clothing, tools and produce will be just some of the attractions of the markets, which aim to offer something for the whole family.
“It’s fantastic to have our return stallholders, but the majority are new stallholders, which is great for the region,” Mrs Child said.
“And it’s great when you have new stallholders come up to you saying ‘this is my first market and I’m really loving it’.
“We’re branching out with the food. Of course there’ll be the P&C barbecue but also things like gourmet hot dogs, vegetarian options and Asian food.”
Mrs Child is particularly excited about new indoor furnishings and other furniture stallholders.
Vendors will come from as far as Narromine, Parkes, Cowra, Mudgee and Sydney, however, Mrs Child said organisers had ensured there were also plenty of local stallholders.
“They say it takes a village to raise a child so we like to support the community who supports us,” she said.
Money raised from the market will go towards resealing the surface of the lower playground and buying more play equipment.
The markets will take place at the school, at 45 Spring Street, from 9am to 3pm on Sunday, October 18. Entry is by gold coin donation.
