Managing Director Airlines Paul Bredereck said the new services, which were originally announced last month, had hit some initial hurdles gaining access to Melbourne’s Tullamarine Airport and security issues at Melbourne’s Essendon Airport.
But JETGO had now secured the support of Avalon Airport which could accommodate the new flights until security facilities were in place at Essendon Airport.
“It was quite important for us and the Dubbo community to get the new services established this year but that looked unlikely when we failed to secure access to Tullamarine and the security issues surfaced at Essendon," Mr Bredereck said.
"However Avalon Airport has simply been fantastic in accommodating our needs even though our services may only be temporary."
The new flights would initially operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays, and the scheduled starting date of October 27 would remain the same, Mr Bredereck said.
Airfares would normally start from $247 one way but JETGO was offering a limited number of seats at a special promotional fare of $137.
