Specialising in all things poultry, Lance Bonham has been breeding and showing poultry since he was five years old.
“I’ve always bred and shown poultry,” he said.
“I have four kids under four years of age including twins aged two and a half and a 10-month-old. Chickens are really good for kids.”
Find and Seek Agriculture has only been in business for three months and it’s really taking off.
“We’re small block specialists,” he said.
“There are a lot of small block and weekend farmers that need somewhere to go for stock and advice.”
Rhode Island reds and whites, Plymouth rocks, Peking bantams and wyandots of various colours are some of the specialty breeds that Mr Bonham has.
“The wyandot is a real show chicken,” he said, “and the Plymouth rock is a real dual purpose breed.”
The most popular at the markets are the venerable isa brown, commercial black and leg horns breeds.
It’s not all chickens though, Find and Seek Agriculture also stock geese and ducks.
Mr Bonham appreciates the feedback that he gets from customers at the farmers’ market and always hopes that he brings enough to keep everyone happy.
“I’ll be bringing 60 to this month’s market,” he said.
If you’re interested in obtaining a chicken or two, bring a cardboard box with you to the Orange Region Farmers’ Market on Saturday from 8.30 to 12.30 in the agricultural pavilion at the Orange Showground, Leeds Parade, Orange.
