The strike seamer, who bagged a hat-trick in the club’s commanding Royal Hotel Cup win over Molong last summer, has moved to Sydney’s northern beaches, leaving a considerable gap in the club’s bowling stocks.

Ready to step up, though, is young gun Zac Reimer.

The Manildra-based speedster was a stand-out for the red and blacks throughout 2014-15, and McGrath said Reimer would again be a key contributor for Centrals ahead of the club’s opening to the Orange District Cricket Association’s first grade campaign against Kinross at Riawena Oval.

Reimer nabbed 5-48 and 4-15 in consecutive games late in the year.

“Zac’s got a funny knack of picking up wickets at key moments,” the club president said.

“He got better and better as the year progressed, and if he can continue that improvement, he’ll be in for a big summer.”

Aiding Centrals in a bid to improve this season will be the addition of Adam Shepherd and former Kinross spinner Jack Dodds.

Bringing a wealth of experience to the role, Shepherd will captain the first grade team, while Dodds is a more than handy lower order contributor with the willow.

McGrath said if the club could focus at training, a finals place was not out of the realms of possibility.

“I think everyone would admit last year was a bit disappointing, results- wise,” he said.

“I know Shep’s a big believer in the you ‘play like you train’ philosophy, and if we can up the ante during the week at practice, then I anticipate both grades can improve on last year’s results,”  he said.

“So far, the early indications are positive.”

Both Centrals sides start their respective summers against Kinross on Saturday, October 10.

Cricki's view: The Dodds clan is fast becoming Orange cricket’s very own, albeit vastly smaller in stature, version of South Sydney’s Burgesses. There’s not a team in Orange that doesn’t have a Doddi in it, and in Maxwell and Jack, Centrals have two of the best.
