However, a lack of toilets in the city’s CBD seems to be a topic that infuriates both locals and visitors.

As anyone who’s not familiar with Orange will tell you it’s difficult to find an adequately signposted toilet facility in the CBD.

Thankfully after tonight’s Orange City Council meeting, the location of Orange’s newest public toilet will finally be decided.

There are two plans before council tonight. One features a new toilet block connected to the existing Country Women’s Association CWA Hall in Robertson Park.

The second plan allows the toilets to be built next to the hall, with a courtyard separating them.

Understandably, the CWA prefers the first plan because it includes disability access to the hall and two disabled toilets.

But no matter which option council selects, most of us will be relieved to hear the matter has finally been put to bed.

Over the years, many residents and councillors have fought to have a new toilet facility built in Robertson Park.

Councillor Glenn Taylor has perhaps been one of the most vocal advocates for the facility, but 10 years down the track, he has said he no longer cares which of the two design options are given the go-ahead, as long as there’s finally progress.

It’s likely the Orange community will agree with him.

With construction of the nearby Orange Regional Museum and visitors centre well under way, the precinct is sure to attract even more people than it currently does.

Surely there should be no more community discussion over the council’s decision to build a toilet block in Robertson Park.
