The bee all and end all in school spirit

WHEN it comes to school spirit no school does it better than Orange High School.

That’s according to the year 12 students who spray-painted a car in Orange High School colours.

The 86 Ford Meteor belongs to year 12 student Chris Ryan.

He had no qualms about sprucing up the once faded blue body.

School captain Lachlan Harris said the resale value of the car was dramatically increased.

“We just thought it’d be a good idea for a bit of school spirit,” he said.

Lachlan said the students went the extra mile to remember their last year of school in an original way.

The car was cruising around Orange the last few days to raise money for Emerge Youth and Family Services Orange.

The school held a casual clothes day to contribute funds to the cause.

Vice-captain Kaitlyn Riles said year 12 students hotly debated where the money would go.

“We chose the youth centre because we wanted the money to go to Orange and we think what the centre does is really wonderful,” she said.

Kaitlyn said the school spirit at Orange High School smashed all others.

“We’re number one,” she said.

“We have a car.”

Lachlan was driving the car while Chris is away. He said he would not be embarrassed to cruise the streets in 12 months time.

“Nah I’ll still do it.”

The school hopes to raise $1500 from the casual clothes day. The money will be presented tomorrow night to Emerge.
