Socceroo star Tim Cahill has donated his $6500 match appearance fee to a young man fighting Hodgkins Lymphoma and urged others to help to fund his clinical trial.

Cahill leads a movement within Australian football which has supported Joe Lynch who is trying to raise $800,000 for a potentially curative early stage clinical trial after exhausting all other options in Australia.
Lynch, who is the son of Fairfax Media journalist Michael Lynch, is hoping to raise funds to travel to America for the clinical trial. Already $18,719 has been raised through 127 donations made online not including Cahill's match fee.
Socceroos' coach Ange Postecoglou, assistant Ante Milicic, former Matilda Julie Dolan, Melbourne Victory players Danny Vukovic and Connor Pain and Sydney FC chief executive Tony Pignata are among those who have already donated in an online campaign that has drummed up mass support for Joe.
It's understood Cahill donated the fee from Australia's World Cup qualifier against Tajikistan and tweeted his support for the cause and urged others to help the young man's brave fight.
