As part of this year’s Orange Wine Festival, the award winning winery will be presented with a perpetual trophy, while one lucky voter will win a dozen bottles of gold-medal wines.
Group Managing editor NSW-Western Tony Rhead says the Central Western Daily is pleased to sponsor the award.
“It’s a great opportunity for everyone to vote for their favourite local drop,” he said.
“Everyone can let their palates do the talking.”
Voting will be available online via the Central Western Daily website and during the public wine tasting on Saturday, October 17.
The winner will be announced during the night market in Robertson Park on Friday, October 30.
“When visitors and locals are out tasting, they can go online and vote for the wines that they enjoy,” Mr Rhead said.
To help novices distinguish excellent wine from very good wine, the Central Western Daily will be producing a series of videos hosted by local wine experts.
“We’ll be creating a guide to glassware with Justin Byrne and an explanation of wine making terminology from Nadja Wallington,” Mr Rhead said.
“We’ll also have an expert explaining the difference between high and low altitude grapes and a guide to etiquette at the cellar door.”
