Ms Murphy and her runner-up, Alana Datt, were selected at a ceremony at Bathurst Goldfields on Thursday night as the best women to represent Bathurst during the October race week and the year following.
It was a tight competition, with all of the finalists presenting very good credentials, but in the end it was Ms Murphy who proved the best contender.
The V8 Ambassador program aims to celebrate young achievers who make important contributions to the community.
The program has been run in conjunction with the races for many years and is always generously supported by Bathurst Regional Council and the Bathurst City Centre.
Member for Bathurst Paul Toole attended the ceremony at Bathurst Goldfields and said choosing the winners was a tough call.
“This program is an integral part of the race festival and this year has presented the judging panel with 10 excellent finalists,” he said.
“Mount Panorama and the V8 festival continue to bring many opportunities to both our city and those that live in it and I congratulate Emma Murphy and Alana Datt and wish them the best representing Bathurst in 2015/16.”
