Here’s mud in your eye at forest rally

IT was a rough road around Orange on Saturday as the Orange City Forest Rally took place.

A field of 53 cars was entered for the five-stage rally which took in Canobolas State Forest, Four Mile Creek and Mullions Range State Forest.

Australian Motorsport Action Group (AMSAG) president Dave Aitchison said it was an action packed day with a number of vehicles unable to complete the stages.

“We’ll see how many got to the end, it’s a bit of a test of endurance and navigation,” he said.

An oil leak forced out the team of Mike Tuckey and John Hills during the second stage of the rally.

For Penrith men John Sagovac and Karl Rhodes a rollover in their 1969 Datsun 1600 ended the day a little earlier than they had hoped.

Despite the rollover the Mr Sagovac and Mr Rhodes were jovial and said they will be back again.

The rally formed part of the Southern Cross Rally Series and drivers will complete 150 kilometres of timed track while in Orange.
