Fatal accident at Lyndhurst

A car, truck and tractor have been involved in an accident at Lyndhurst leaving one person dead. 

The Mid Western Highway was closed following the incident with emergency services on scene. 

The accident occurred near the intersection of Lyons Road and the highway.

At approximately 2.50pm on Friday, a sedan, a tractor and a truck were travelling on the Mid Western Highway near Lyndhurst when a collision has occurred – although police are unsure as yet of exact details.

The sedan ended up in a tabletop drain on its roof.

The Crash Investigation Unit were on the scene, as well as the Forensics Services Group.  The SES Rescue Unit from Blayney was also on site. Officers from Canobolas and Chifley Local Area Commands attended, plus a RTA Heavy Vehicle Inspector.

One person involved was airlifted to Orange in a serious condition, others were taken to Cowra by ambulance.

Traffic diversions around the site were in place and police are asking drivers to avoid the area.

Heavy vehicles are being diverted along The Escort Way and Canowindra Road, while light vehicle diversions are in place through Blayney, Orange, Canowindra and Cowra. 

Investigations are ongoing at this stage.
