DEATH A MYSTERY: Police say the family of dead man Michael Castles deserves closure over the death of the young father.
THIS week the family of Michael Castles made a public plea for anyone with information about the 27-year-old’s murder to come forward to police.
Canobolas Local Area Command crime manager detective inspector Denise Godden said police were still trying to piece together the last days of Mr Castles’s life leading up to his murder last year.
Inspector Godden said police had received a large number of inquires following reports of Mr Castles’s disappearance and the subsequent discovery of his body on September 14, 2011.
“We’ve now exhausted all inquires and there are no further lines of investigation,” inspector Godden said.
Inspector Godden said police were now collecting their findings in order to prepare a brief for the coroner.
She said anyone with any information about Mr Castles’s activities before his death, or anyone who associated with him at around that time, should speak out now for the sake of his family.
“They would like some closure, soon than later,” she said.
Mr Castles’s body was found on the Huntley Road near Spring Creek after his mother Alison Lawford reported him missing on September 6.
Mrs Lawford told police she hadn’t seen her son, who was the father of a young daughter, since August 8, and had made her own inquiries about him without success, before reporting him missing.
Investigations into Mr Castles’s disappearance revealed that he was last seen in the Orange central business district on August 17.
While police believe Mr Castles was murdered, investigations are still underway to determine how the murder occurred.
