During School Administration Support Staff Week, teachers and school communities have been acknowledging the work they do to support students in classrooms, under the theme “our jobs your children their future”. 

Bletchington Public School administrative manager, Michelle Gander said support officers are often the people who work one on one with parents, carers and the community members, and they often “go above and beyond”. 

“We’re kind of the face of the school,” Ms Gander said. 

“And in the classroom it’s very hands on and support is needed for children’s learning ... they are all highly skilled people.” 

The school’s support learning officers were treated to a morning tea by principal Craig Booth, as well as appreciative cards and small gifts from teachers to thank them for their input into children’s education. 

“They’re people who like to quietly work in the background and not make a song and dance, so it’s nice to have recognition,” Ms Gander said.
