Fall prevention laser beam equipment for the physiotherapy department, soft furnishings and activity materials for the child and adolescent ward, plus art supplies and client Christmas and Easter presents are hoped to be funded through this major fundraiser.
Bloomfield Hospital Riverside Centre Auxiliary is hosting the raffle, and publicity officer Margaret Balsom said the not-for-profit organisation aimed to raise $5000 to $6000 through the raffle.
“These are requests that come into us specifically because there’s underfunding very often,” Ms Balsom said about the items chosen to be purchased.
“For many of them the Christmas present is the only present they [clients] get.”
“It could be extra activities on the ward, it could be extra facilities on the ward or some gardening. Anything to make that environment more positive for those who are in there,” added fellow auxiliary supporter Peter Balsom on where the money would be spent.
Auxiliary members and volunteers will be manning raffle tables at various shopping centres until all of the 5000 tickets are sold or the raffle is drawn on October 8.
Some of the 10 major prizes include a 520-litre fridge, cash, a robotic floor washer and various vouchers.
Tickets are also available at mental health facilities.
