The 14-year-old James Sheahan Catholic High School student is hoping to be named as a top six national finalist and ultimately take the overall crown of the Girlfriend Priceline Model Search, run by Girlfriend magazine.
Bonni was one of seven NSW finalists to be selected from 800 entrants in the state finals and is now waiting for information about the national finals.
“I was so excited, I didn’t expect it being from [Orange] and being among all the beautiful beachy girls,” Bonni said.
“I was a little anxious walking into Westfield [Parramatta] and seeing the massive line and all the gorgeous girls there, I was just one of the lucky ones that made it through.”
Bonni and her mother Nikki Breen waited in line for about two and a half hours before Bonni got her turn to meet the judges and have her photo taken.
“Ever since I started high school I’ve been really interested in it [modelling] ... hopefully I get through to the finals,” she said.
“I’ve always been really tall for my age, I’m only 14, nearly 15, and I’m 182cm.”
Since the competition she has been in contact with some of the other finalists through social media and she has been approached by a Sydney modelling agent who she has plans to meet with.
The model search has been running for 25 years and has launched a number of international faces including Samantha Harris, Abbey Lee Kershaw and Ruby Rose.
This year’s winner will receive a cash prize of $5000, a two-year contract with CHIC Management, a trip to New York or London, appearances in Girlfriend, a $1000 prize pack from Priceline Pharmacy, and for the first time there is a $5000 cash prize for the scout who nominated the overall winner.
