It simply describes generosity and compassion as “the milk of human kindness”.
Whether it was used before Shakespeare I don’t know, but he uses it in Macbeth, and that goes back a while!
I stand amazed at the ongoing generosity of the people of Orange and surrounding towns. I have almost lost count of the number and variety of good and worthy causes being supported in cash and in kind by businesses both large and small, but what can never be lost in the count are all the people who make fundraising possible.
These range from donating attractive prizes, to the selling and purchase of tickets by shoppers passing by, or the dropping of a donation by those who “don’t do” raffles.
Ronald McDonald House has topped the pole this week, but that doesn’t seem to have deterred people from supporting the Bloomfield/ Riverside giant raffle that set up in the CBD during the week and will continue until early October.

Whether it be mental health, including child and adolescent, or accommodation for families with sick children, or members with cancer, or homeless people, or victims of violence, or any other worthy cause, that is where the milk of human kindness becomes almost tangible.
Push for Palliative, a campaign to raise awareness of the need for bigger and better resourced palliative care in Orange, has attracted some thousands of signatures from people supporting the cause.
Let the milk of human kindness flow abundantly across all levels of our city of Orange, and let us never forget that one day we too may well be among those we are now supporting.
Three cheers for generous people!
