Ms Campbell was recently presented with a Tidy Towns Award for creating a Healing Garden by Orange mayor John Davis.
She is one of the many people who will be deservedly awarded before Keep Australia Beautiful Week later this month.
In the 24 years Ms Campbell has worked at Orange Base Hospital and Health Service she has looked after the gardens as a volunteer for 15 years.
Ms Campbell started work on the rehabilitation garden, which features seasonal plants, a fountain and seats for respite, last September.
She spent weeks digging out the agapanthus in the already established garden beds.
“Then I bought in new soil and then set to do fundraising and I bought all the arches and gazebos and brought in new plants,” Ms Campbell said.
She said the hospital auxiliary, Orange Rotary and Lions also helped.
“It’s a passion and I’ve met some lovely people. I’ve even had patients donate, someone handed me $20 and asked me to buy a rose for the garden,” she said.
“I’m proud of this. I’ve always wanted to do something for Orange and I think most Orange people and surrounding areas will use this area at some point.”
