The man was granted bail in Orange Local Court last week after a previous application to the court for bail on July 6 was knocked back.
Police prosecutor Sergeant Phil Donato opposed bail again in court.
“He said to the victim, ‘you are dead - I will slit your throat’, which amounts to a breach of his AVO,” he said.
“And this was just days after being told to leave her alone.”
Granting bail magistrate, Terry Lucas, also told the man’s solicitor he required $1000 in surety.
After being told he had been granted bail, the accused repeatedly thanked the magistrate.
“Don’t thank me - this is my job,” Mr Lucas told the accused.
The man’s legal aid solicitor Rebecca McIlveen told the court a rehabilitation centre away from Orange, the victim, and the couple’s children was an appropriate place for her client to deal with his significant mental health problems.
The man’s sister was in court to support her brother.
