Mr Tranfaglia, who represented Centrelink at the fund-raising event, was the very last of the 11 performers, bringing the house down with a combination of the Bee Gees' You Should Be Dancing and LMFAO's Party Rock Anthem.
He scored a perfect 10 from judge Janice Harris and a nine from Nick Tucknott to win the judges' choice.
"Initially I was nervous about going last, I must admit, but it was good to get the crowd's reaction because it gave me some get up and go," he said.
"When I got the 10, it was mind-blowing."
He drew on past dance competitions he competed in during the 1980s.
"A school mate told me I hadn't changed a bit from the Kenna Hall discos," he said with a laugh.
Mr Tranfaglia's performance was also an opportunity to dance with his daughter, Stephanie Sandford, who was a support dancer during the routine.
"From the age of three, we used to dance around the rumpus room doing the Nutbush," he said.
"Ever since then, she's had a love of dance and it was just a pleasure to dance with her."
Prime's Matt Hogan received a highly commended after he scored a 17 for his dance to I Will Survive, bravely sporting a bikini top, disco skirt and pink bob, and wowing the sell-out audience with his commitment and flexibility.
Orange City Lions' Jake Davis took out the people's choice award after the crowd contributed more than $500 following his ballet performance, while Orange councillor and fellow ballet dancer Reg Kidd took out the top fund-raiser award with $4,108 raised.
Cancer Council community relations co-ordinator Bree Kelly said the preliminary fund-raising total stood at $33,900, but expected to pass the $35,000 target once all the funds had been banked.
All money raised will go towards cancer prevention and supporting those with the disease.
"I was just so proud of all the stars because I've had a glimpse of the performances as they put it all together, but they brought it and owned that stage," Ms Kelly said.
