MusicNSW’s youth entertainment initiative Indent aims to inspire the development of regional and youth music. It is funding and facilitating an event in Orange in September that will boast an ARIA chart-ranking Australian act, an interstate support act and a local band.
Organising the event on the ground will be Underground Sound, an Orange music event organising committee whose members range in age from 12 to 25.
MusicNSW communications manager Scarlett Di Maio and Indent project co-ordinator Greg Clennar met the team supervisors and Underground Sound members, delegated individual roles, and gave lessons on promotion as well as insights into the production side of a live event at a pre-tour workshop.
“The Indent tour isn’t just a skills development opportunity for the young people in the team, it’s about making sure we’re helping to provide exposure for local bands around here who’d like the opportunity to be working on a professional stage or with professional equipment with an industry-standard team,” Ms Di Maio said.
“It’s exciting to work in this community because we’ve wanted to come here for a while and this team of young people from this actual team seem super passionate.”
Underground Sound are still looking for people to help out in putting the event together.
People aged between 12 and 25 who would like to get involved can contact MusicNSW or search ‘Underground Sound’ on Facebook.
Full details of the event will be announced on August 12.
