About 40 different artists’ works on paper are showcased in the exhibition in 8 x 10 frames.
Having the showing limits allows for a cohesive display and a diverse array of expression from a variety of artists all at the same time, says gallery owner and artist Madeline Young.
“I noticed a lot of artists who’ve come through have been using paper,” Young said.
The exhibition includes works from high school students through to artists such as Brooke Lennon, Jacqueline Chan, Ikuko Fujisawa, Josephine Jagger-Manners, Siobhan Fitzpatrick and Kathryn Jarzabek.
The artists express on paper in a variety of ways including photography, painting, drawing, in collage and through stencil and silk work.
Fujisawa and Jarzabek said this was their first local showing.
“It was nice to have something to work towards,” Jarzabek said in regards to the exhibition.
Fujisawa said she enjoyed the challenge of bringing her Japanese-style art to somewhere like Orange.
“This gives a lot of artists who don’t have the confidence, time or resources to host a solo exhibition to still exhibit,” Ms Young said.
“They get to exhibit with the likes of Tonya Graham, Amelia Herbertson and Luke Wong who are more established.”
Works on Paper runs until August 16.
