No Lights No Lycra is a casual free-form dance space held in semi-darkness so people can enjoy the pure beauty of dancing.
The concept, dreamed up by two Melbourne dance students, is all about dancing in the dark and has been developed in cities as big as Sydney and as small as Alice Spring and now is being held in Orange.
One of the core organisers of the weekly events, Loretta Svenson, said the nights were about people enjoying music and having space to move however they want.
“It’s for people who just like to dance without being in a nightclub, getting hit on or without alcohol involved,” Ms Svenson said.
“It’s just you, the music and the space to move.”
She said each week the theme of the music changed, but there was always something for everyone.
Another beauty of the event is that there’s no membership required and people can come along whenever they like.
No Lights No Lycra is held at the Country Women’s Association hall in Byng Street each Monday from 6.30pm. Entry fee is $5.
