Lakeview’s Trevor King, who owns the business with his wife Pam, said they were excited by the win in the category of hosted accommodation.
Mr King said he wanted to encourage other Orange businesses to enter next year.
“We want to get more events and businesses involved in this,” he said.
“It lifts the profile of the businesses and the region too.”
Mr King said the contemporary cabins were popular with couples.
“We built the sort of place where we’d like to go and stay ourselves,” he said.
Simon Forsyth, who owns Ferment The Orange Wine Centre and Wine Store with his wife Natalie, said he was happy to have won a silver award in the category of specialised tourism services.
“We’re quite unique in what we do,” he said.
“We’re now a cellar door for seven wines and offer a tasting experience for people coming to Orange.”
Tourism providers from throughout NSW and Victoria gathered for the awards in Broken Hill last Saturday.
The gold award winners will compete as finalist in the NSW tourism awards to be held in Sydney on July 25.
The chair of the awards, Jane Barnes, said Saturday night’s 12th annual awards night showcased some of the best tourism attractions, products and operators in NSW and Victoria.
“This year, all entrants were of a high calibre,” she said.
“In some categories the marks between finalists were so close that a silver and bronze award was given.”
