Coverage of two of the biggest events on the sporting calendar begin at the same time, at 7.30pm, which has caused heartache for many a fan.
One fanatic who has his evening sorted out is Peter Snowden, who said he will be cheering on his beloved Queensland in the State of Origin series decider at Suncorp Stadium.
He’ll then flick the channel to watch the remainder of the first day of the first Ashes Test at Sophia Gardens, Cardiff.
“I normally like to share the experience with others, so I might head up to Duntryleague and watch Origin with the guys there and then we’ll watch the Ashes,” Mr Snowden said.
After NSW ended Queensland’s eight-year run with a 2-1 series win last year, Mr Snowden was confident the Maroons would be able to reclaim the revered rugby league title when they clash with Laurie Daley’s Blues tonight.
And, if you ask Mr Snowden, they’ll do so easily.
“I think Queensland will win 24-8,” he said, predicting Cameron Smith to hold aloft Queendland’s ninth series win in 10 years.
“Up in Brisbane it will be hard to beat [Queensland], and I think Cooper Cronk will really help the team out.”
The self-proclaimed “oldest cricket player in Orange” is also looking forward to watching Michael Clarke lead Australia’s Ashes charge.
“Australia will win three Tests to one. I think Australia has a very balanced team, but I think they will get bored by the last test,” he said.
“It’s a bit of a bonanza for sporting fans tonight.”
State of Origin coverage will begin on WIN at 7.30pm, and the first Ashes Test will begin at 7.30pm on GEM.
