Run by The Canobolas Rural Technology High School drama teachers Hannah Lloyd and Amy Neve, the boredom-busting school holiday activity at Orange City Library taught aspiring actors the skills of improvisation, role play and quick thinking with games like death in a minute, human knot and Pirates.
Of the 40 school-aged students who participated in two sessions, Miss Lloyd said not one was unwilling to get up in front of their peers and have a go.
“In the junior session we focused on building confidence and team building, it was a lot more informal and silly than the senior session where we had a few more structured games ... we really want to instil a love of drama in the Orange community,” Miss Lloyd said.

The event was a little left of centre for the library, but feedback from parents and children alike had been positive according to librarian Julie Sykes.
Miss Lloyd said drama while being a fun pastime also gave children useful skills that could be applied to other areas of life.
“[Drama gives you] confidence, being able to talk to people you don’t know, inter-personal skills, public speaking skills, a way to express emotions and go through scenarios that might be a bit difficult,” Miss Lloyd said
Theatresports is set to reappear at Orange Youth Arts Festival later this year.
