Weatherzone meteorologist Kim Westcott said there is a strong cold front coming through from Victoria that will affect Orange as well as other parts of NSW up to south east Queensland.
“Friday is going to be the coldest at around minus 5 degrees,” Ms Westcott said.
“These minus temperatures will continue from Thursday to at least Monday.
“[Today] is probably going to be your coldest day at around 6 degrees [maximum], about 4 degrees below average.”
Ms Westcott said the long-term average for July was 0.5 degrees for minimum temperatures and about 10 degrees for maximum temperatures.
“Beyond Friday it will be around the average temperatures,” she said.
Although people should keep rugged up in the cold mornings Ms Westcott said it is unlikely to snow.
“You need temperatures of around nought degrees and you need some showers, at this stage it’s going to be a little bit too dry for snow,” she said.
The lowest winter temperature recorded in Orange was minus 7.7 degrees in 2002.
