HOCKEY: Bletchington Public School finished third in the state after yesterday's NSW Primary School Sports Association boys' hockey finals.
Four schools earned a place in the knockout competition's semi-finals in Lithgow yesterday.
The Orange school took on Erina Heights in the semi-final but lost the closely-fought match 3-1.
Bletchington coach Sandy Cook said the boys were unlucky not to win the semi-final.
"Erina played very well and the boys matched them," Cook said.
"We were very unlucky. We had five shots on goal that hit the post."
Bletchington played off for third place against Wallsend South yesterday afternoon and the Orange team delivered a dominant 9-2 win.
"It was disappointing not to get in the final because the boys were good enough," Cook said.
"Still, they're very proud of themselves right now."
Erina Heights went on to win the final against Grafton and claim the state title.
