The speakers - a mental health worker, paramedic, an Orange detective and Jackson Oppy, who has had the good fortune to have controlled his addiction to ice, brought home how insidious and destructive this drug is to an individual physically, emotionally and mentally, and how difficult it is to stop using ice.
The photos of destroyed facial features, teeth and the mental hallucination users have of meth mites, which they believe are crawling under their skin, and the scratching or picking at skin in some instances down to the bone, is horrifying.
I am thankful to Calare Rotary for increasing my and the students’ awareness of this dangerous drug, and would like more forums to be held to increase public knowledge.
