AFTER receiving dual yellow cards in last weekend’s 26-18 win against Cowra Eagles, which resulted in a red card, Orange Emus flanker Scott Udy escaped suspension at a Central West Rugby Union (CWRU) judiciary hearing.

Udy was originally given the cheese by referee Peter Egan for his involvement in a 38th minute melee, and was handed a second yellow card for repeated infringements midway through the second half of the Blowes Clothing Cup clash.
The 24-year-old breakaway, who was unable to attend the hearing due to work commitments, is now free to play in his side’s mouth-watering clash with the Mudgee Wombats at Jubillee Oval tomorrow.
“Because Scott Udy was awarded two yellow cards [the judiciary felt] no further sanction was necessary,” CWRU chief executive officer Peter Veenstra said.
However Cowra prop Gabe Brown was reprimanded, and was handed a three-week suspension - with two weeks suspended for 12 months - for his part in the first-half stoush.
Brown was given a straight red card by Egan, and was charged under law 10.4 (a) for punching or striking.
Veenstra said Brown - a former University of Melbourne colts captain, and Melbourne Rebels under 20 squad member - was afforded some leniency thanks to an almost flawless record.
“His record over 13 years is exemplary,” Veenstra said.
“That definitely had an impact on the decision.”
