Orange City Library librarian Sean Brady said while tomorrow’s National Simultaneous Storytime was the most pivotal day for people to come together and celebrate books and reading - as thousands will stop to read The Brothers Quibble by Aaron Blabey - the increased chances to get involved further reinforced the importance of reading.
“National Simultaneous Storytime is really important as a way to encourage parents to read to their children ... the literacy connection it offers to children’s development is important,” Mr Brady said.
“Reading helps children relate holistically as a family as well as to the rest the community.”
Professional story reader Fiona Hawke will read the fiction book this morning, tomorrow and Thursday morning at 11am.
Year 11 Orange High School students will act out the story.
Mr Brady said there was a capacity for the event and an RSVP would be encouraged.
A further performance of the book by high school students will take place at the library from 2pm.
