COMPETITORS from around NSW will be in Orange this weekend for the TAG Super Series.
Orange Kart Club is hosting the fourth round in the series and will attract more than 100 competitors.
TAG stands for “tough and go” meaning the karts are self-starters with the touch of a button.
There are five TAG classes racing in Orange, as well as two non-TAG.
Within the TAG classes are restricted and unrestricted categories.
The restricted have karts limited to 19 horsepower but the unrestricted entries go up to 28 horsepower.
Orange’s Ian Sadler will line up National Super Heavy class for the first time.
“It will be hard because I have to put on 15kg of lead to my kart to get up there (to the right weight),” Sadler explained.
Former Orange karter Tommy Quinlan will make a comeback for the event and is expected to be competitive.
“Tommy hasn’t raced karts for seven years,” Sadler explained.
“He’s a former national champion. He was out here last week and he was right on the pace.”
On Monday there were already over 100 TAG entries.
Sadler expects more Orange competitors to enter this weekend and they could feature on the podiums.
“I think Orange will bolster the ranks and be very competitive,” Sadler said.
“I think they might surprise some of the TAG racers.”
Practice will be held today at the Orange Kart Track on Perc Griffith Way.
Racing will be underway by 9am tomorrow and will include two heats, a pre-final and final for each class.
