I WOULD suggest that councillor Glen Taylor has, in the words of our esteemed Prime Minister, ‘misspoken’ in connection with the Orange Regional Conservatorium (CWD Saturday, May 16).

What a shame he didn’t choose to do a bit more research before he decided to run down such an esteemed and invaluable establishment. As was pointed out towards the end of Saturday’s article, Glenroi schoolchildren might not go to the conservatorium but the conservatorium certainly goes to them - as it goes to the library to provide singalongs for preschoolers, to the senior citizens’ hall for the Come Together Choir and, I’m sure, to many other venues to provide inspiration and enjoyment to a wide spectrum of Orange citizens.
I live very near the conservatorium but it was only when I joined the Come Together Choir that I realised what a wonderful and far-reaching job the staff of the conservatorium do. At the choir, we are asked to make a financial contribution each week towards the choir’s upkeep. I would like to think that we pay our way to a certain extent.
I love my Tuesday mornings and it has become a focal point in my week.
I have no idea how the art gallery or our future museum are funded, but I would suggest that the conservatorium is at least equally worthy of any funding available.
Pet Brazier,
Orange
