Recent data has revealed Dubbo, with 579 births, came in sixth highest in the state, closely behind Orange which was fifth with 588 births.
Dubbo has come in sixth position in the past four years while Orange has been fifth over the same period.
In 2010, Dubbo was the highest regional centre when it recorded 496 births which placed it fifth in the state, closely followed by Tamworth in sixth with 465 and Wagga Wagga in seventh with 455.
Orange was ninth that year with 437 births.
In 2014, Blacktown in Sydney's west was the highest for the third time in four years, with 846 births, which is up from 823 from 2013 when Blacktown also topped the list.
Suburbs in Sydney's west and south west account for seven of the top 10 baby hotspots, with Auburn, Bankstown, Merrylands Liverpool, Parramatta and Guildford joining Blacktown in the top 10.
