It was the third Harley to be raffled by Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak members who raised almost half a million dollars in the past 10 years for the program.
Although raffle tickets were capped at 450 the latest raffle drawn on Saturday raised $25,000 for the program, which helps children, usually under five years, with a disability prepare for mainstream school such as with speech and physical therapy.
Fundraising committee member Peter Roan said the almost $500,000 donated to date was from nine balls and raffling three Harleys.
“We ran our last ball last year, after nine years of running the ball it was time to end on a high but we are introducing some functions, the first one this year is at the botanic gardens [on September 13] it’s jazz and food at the botanic gardens.” Mr Roan said.
He said the tickets for the latest Harley were limited to improve the odds but cost $100 each.
“The proceeds from this will go to a solar system to be installed at ODEEP,” Mr Roan said.
“Any money we raise stays local.”
The Rotary club buys the Harleys at cost price from Capital Harley-Davidson in Orange for the cause.
Second prize won by Burnett Daglish was a $500 voucher to spend at Harley-Davidson stores in Australia and third prize, won by Tim Leahey was a $250 voucher to Blowes Clothing at Orange, Bathurst, Mudgee or Dubbo.
Rotary Club of Orange Daybreak president Lynette Bullen said she was ecstatic about the fundraising success of the Harley raffle.
