With five players backing up from Group 10’s Western Division representative cluster campaign at Dubbo’s Caltex Park on Saturday, injured green and golds captain-coach Mick Sullivan said his side’s thumping win was born from consistency, and a completion rate he estimated to be around 85 per cent.

“It’s never an easy road trip out here, so I’m very happy to come away with the points,” Sullivan said.

“The boys played very well, and we completed the best we have all year. We controlled the ball really well.”

CYMS shot out to a 26-6 lead at half-time, before scoring 40 unanswered points in the second half to claim a second victory of the 2015 Group 10 premier league season.

The win, along with CYMS’ bye, catapults the green and golds to the top of the table, leading the competition on points difference from Blayney, Bathurst St Pat’s and Lithgow Workies, who all boast six competition points as well.

Crucially for Sullivan’s side, they hold a game in hand after their clash with Lithgow was postponed due to an unplayable ground, and has yet to be played.

Sullivan was loathe to single out too many players, saying his entire side performed with aplomb in the thrashing, but did save special reserve for pivot Luke Petrie and centre Jerome Harrison.

“Luke Petrie was particularly good, playing halfback,” Sullivan said.

“But everyone was strong. Matty Rose did come off at one stage with a bit of a hamstring issue, but I don’t think it’s too serious.

“Tim Mortimer went in the halves then, and he did a good job in there as well.”

In other Group 10 games, Mudgee has suffered a surprise loss against Panthers in Bathurst, with the hosts crusing to a 32-12 victory over the Dragons.

While in Lithgow, Workies proved they’ll be one of the teams to beat this season with a 18-4 trumping of defending premiers Bathurst St Pat’s, in conditions not at all conducive to attacking rugby league.
